Wisdom from Unlikely Places
Perhaps it makes perfect sense that the most perceptive article I have read about the state of our nation comes not from one of our own. Perhaps it takes someone from a totally different world to see the cancer that is threatening our great nation. This article in the Washington Post by Mikhail Gorbachev speaks great truth.
"The time has come for "creative construction," for striking the right balance between the government and the market, for integrating social and environmental factors and demilitarizing the economy."

Merrimack, New Hampshire

Doll carriage parade/contest, Merrimack (Reeds Ferry), New Hampshire c1959. That is actually me in center of photo with white skirt and green & yellow carriage. My Mom decorated the carriage...and me. I won 1st place, by the way. My Dad is sitting in the green Buick, and my Aunt is standing next to the car. This is taken in center of town and white building on right was 1 or 2 room schoolhouse where I went to 1st grade. I love the whole of this picture...so 1950's Americana. Notice the young girl in black face just in front of me. Certainly times have changed....some for the better and some not so much.

Canterbury, New Hampshire
We took a ride to Shaker Village in Canterbury, New Hamphshire. The foliage was outstanding and we happened to get behind vintage automobile making this shot pretty and fun.
